The Leviathan axe, once thrown, will come back to you, in a similar fashion to Thor’s hammer. It doesn’t matter the distance or space you throw it in, it will find its way back to your hand. You can use this to your advantage to take down multiple enemies in a single throw. The Leviathan Axe can also be used to solve puzzles that you will come across in the game.
To throw your axe, press the L1 button once, this will start a light throw that will just bounce off enemies and land on the ground. You can grab it mid-bounce if you are quick enough. If you press L2, your axe will be lodged into an enemy till you press recall, and you can do twice the damage this way. Aim for the head or any weak spot you can find on the enemy to do precise damage.
For Runic axe moves, your starting Runic Attacks are perfect enough to take you through the whole game. The combination of L1+R1 can help with stun, interrupt, and deals damage too. But if you want to experiment with other Runic Attacks you are more than welcome to find out which is your best fit while playing the game.
