You need to unlock the Vermin Nest blueprint by completing the quest Fortify. This is an early-game quest that you can complete after finishing the three objectives. The objectives are to craft and place 3 Palisade Pillars, a Wooden Coffin, and a Small Stash. Once you complete the three, you will unlock the Vermin Nest blueprint. To craft the Vermin Nest, you will need the following materials.

You can get both these materials by scavenging the overworld and killing enemies. You can place up to four Vermin Nests in your castle, and each of them will create 6 vermin to kill.
