Putrid Rat is one of the 30 plus bosses that you will face while playing V Rising. He is not that hard to beat compared to most other bosses but with a perfect strategy, you can overpower him to gain the rewards. The issue is that you have to find Putrid Rat, Summon him, and then you can beat him. It’s not like you can just walk into his lair and beat him like some other Bosses. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of how you can locate Putrid Rat, Summon him, and then defeat him. We will also mention what rewards you will get after you beat him.

Where to find and defeat Putrid Rat?

First of all, let’s discuss where can you find Putrid Rat? The first thing that you should keep in mind while finding Putrid Rat is that unlike other bosses in the game it cannot be found or traced through the Blood Altar. The only way to find Putrid Rat is by summoning it to your base so basically, your base can be the location where you will find Putrid Rat.

It is very difficult to find Putrid Rat because the game doesn’t give you any hints or any clues like that and you don’t know how you can find it or where you can find it. However, there is an Easter Egg in the in-game description that says “too infested might find themselves visited”. This line basically means that you shouldn’t find it but it will find you instead.

To lure the boss to you first of all you will need to build a vermin nest. You can find it in the refinement section inside the production tab and it will cost you 360 stones and 120 bones. Now, to build the Vermin Nest structure you’ll need to find the few required crafting materials such as:

  •  1 Twilight Snapper.
  •  4 Fish Bones.
  •  8 Grave Dust.

In order to find the Twilight Snapper, head over to the nearest lake and start fishing, you will need a fishing rod for this that can be built using planks, copper ingots and coarse threads.

If you don’t have any Fish Bones then it is relatively easier to find. Simply head over to the Farbane Woods and loot chests at Bandit camps and Bandit logging camps to find your required number of Fish Bones.

If you want to find a Grave Dust then just put 100 Bones in a grinder until the required amount of Grave Dust is crafted.

How Can You defeat Putrid Rat in V Rising?

Once you have collected all the equipment and the required materials and then you have returned to the base. Just place all of the resources in the Vermins Nest and wait for 20 to 30 seconds. Putrid Rat will be summoned in the Vermin Nest and once it has arrived, get ready to fight it.

Before fighting the boss make sure that you have reached at least level 30 Gear only then you will be strong enough to defeat the boss Putrid Rat and resist the attacks. Also, you might want to kill Lidia the Chaos Archer as well to get maximum power spells before entering the fight. Once the boss fight starts you will mostly be on top of the fight as Putrid Rat may be difficult to summon but is fairly easy o defeat. However, once it starts digging the ground to release Mini Rats, this is where you will need to be more vigilant about your attacks and stay aware because the odds might be stacked against you. Right now just fully focus on killing the smaller rats first as the boss will go away for a while and will return once all the minions have been defeated. Use this opportunity to recover your health and once the boss returns,  defeat him as well.

What rewards will you get after defeating Putrid Rat in V Rising?

Upon defeating Putrid Rat you will get rewarded with V-Blood for the Putrid Rat and also the Rat Form. The Rat Form doesn’t really serve anything as enemies will still be able to sense your presence but it is still a good way to blend in the environment.
