The Last of Us TV adaptation follows true to the story from the popular video game series of the same name. The show features all the characters from the game, like Joel, Ellie, Tess, Bill, and others. You will also be introduced to the Fireflies, a revolutionary militia group, and their leader, Marlene. Among all the characters, the ones you will be introduced to at the very beginning are Joel’s family, which consists of Tommy and Sarah. Tommy is Joel’s younger brother and uncle to Sarah.
After the Cordyceps virus outbreak and the chaos, it caused in 2003, the time skips to now and follows Joel’s adventure with Tess and Ellie. But Tommy is nowhere to be seen. Fortunately, he is alive and settled in Wyoming with his wife, Maria, in the future. If the show is a true adaptation of the game, then it will also be known that Tommy ended up joining the Fireflies alongside Marlene after the outbreak. After Tommy cuts all ties with Joel by not responding to any of his communication, Joel finds out that Tommy is a part of the Fireflies. But that is not permanent, as he later leaves the group to travel further while trying to find more purpose in his life. Along the way, while crossing Jackson, Wyoming, he meets Maria and her father. They have single-handedly transformed the town into a haven, and Tommy was welcomed with open arms. He later settled down and married Maria.
In the game, it was also shown that Tommy did reunite with Joel while he was traveling with Ellie, so probably his whereabouts will be portrayed in the show as well.
