Different gaming systems have different ways to download the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th titles of the Resident Evil series, and we will take a look at how to download them under different systems.
For PS5
Earlier, the updates for the PS4 and PS5 were treated differently, but with the new update you can merge both save files to play on your PS5.
- Go to your game library and find the relevant Resident Evil game
- Look to the upper right corner to find the Free Update option
- Select the Download option
- When the purchase screen pops up, check if your checkout balance is 0.00. Click confirm.
- In the next screen, select the option Download PS5 Version.
Now, any DLCs owned in the PS4 would also carry over to the PS5, as this will convert the saved data to make it work in the next-gen console. If you cannot get the PS4 data on your PS5, then you will need to upload and download it from your cloud storage if the PS4 version isn’t installed before.
For PC
Sometimes Steam doesn’t follow automatic updates for games, and there isn’t a way to manually check for it. Instead, you can force install any future updates by referring to the following methods.
- Open Steam and go to the Library tab
- Find the relevant Resident Evil game in the Library and right click on it.
- Go to Properties > Local Files > Verify game files
After doing this, your game will automatically have all the updates ready to install if Steam detects that the game files are outdated.
For Xbox Series X|S
Xbox’s players won’t have much trouble, since there is an in-built Smart Delivery option for all Resident Evil titles. You can check if the game has the correct version by checking the Optimized for Xbox Series X|S option under your Library tab. This will check for updates and will help you select the correct version of any installed game in your console. To check for updates, go to the Xbox main menu and select My Games and Apps > Manage > Updates.
