With the latest trend of Battle Royale and multiplayer games being free-to-play, a lot of players are wondering if the newest CoD IP is free-to-play. CoD Vanguard is just a few days from launch and features various game modes. Like with the last title in the CoD series, it will also be integrated with Warzone, which is free-to-play when Season 1 launches on 2nd Dec.
CoD Vanguard is not a free-to-play game at the time of launch or any time in the future. In fact, the only free-to-play CoD game from Activation for console and PC is Warzone. As Warzone will be integrated with Vanguard and share a lot of maps and other aspects of the game, some players may have confused Call of Duty Vanguard as free-to-play. But, that’s far from the case. Vanguard is a lucrative title for Activision and having a popular, free, and Battle Royale title already in the market, it is unlikely Activision will release any other free-to-play besides Warzone.
Will Call of Duty Vanguard be Free-To-Play in Future?
The possibility of Vanguard being free in the future is also slim. CoD titles release every year with Warzone integrating with the new title. Vanguard will phase out in the next year. Even after the game has run its course or during it, it’s unlikely it will ever be free. The reason the company won’t make a second title free is that it will then end up competing with Warzone, which won’t be a financially prudent decision.
Warzone – the current free-to-play and Battle Royale game is a gold mine for Activision with revenue surpassing any other title. Making a second title free will only split the already acquired player base. If Activision was to make another free-to-play, it would be in a different genre.
We hate to put your hopes down, but Vanguard will never be a free-to-play game.
