Throughout God of War, you will be in an offensive position while dealing with the enemy bosses in the game. How to Block Oncoming Attacks in God of War
As mentioned above, Kratos may be powerful in his own right, but sometimes, some battles don’t go according to plan. So if you are in a tough spot and need to avoid the enemy before they take a massive chunk of your health, you will need to learn how to block. Here we will see how to use the block key while playing God of War.

To block, hold down the L1 key on your controller, and this will enable you to block whatever attack is coming at you. This also gives you time to strategize your next move. Blocking helps to lessen the attack on Kratos, keeping your health somewhat intact.
You would also have to look out for the color circle while the enemy is attacking you. A simple standard attack can be blocked easily, but an attack with a yellow circle can potentially stun Kratos, and is unavoidable, even with blocking. Attacks with a red circle are very powerful, and cannot be blocked or parried by Kratos. You will get hit regardless and your health will go down. To avoid that, press X to sidestep, or double-tap X to roll. You can also just move out of the way to avoid getting hit. Avoid getting hit twice by a red attack, since this would ultimately end your game.
