While the previous Pokémon titles worked with Effort Values (EVs) and Individual Values (IVs) to help determine the Pokémon’s effectiveness in battle, Pokémon that will be caught in Legends: Arceus will show up with base ELs instead, with Alpha Pokémon having extra EL. If you want to level up your Pokémon EL, you can use an item called Grit. The plus side of how EL works is that all the levels in EL can be maxed out.
Your Pokémon EL is cumulative of all the different stats it comes equipped with, which include Attack, Defense, Speed, Health, Special Attack, and Special Defense. Each of these stats has 10 levels, which you can keep track of easily as it is written next to each stat.
EL looks like it could be a combination of EV and IV, and it would make tracking your Pokémon stats much easier than when it was divided.
