Felix Kjellberg, the man behind the YouTube channel PewDiePie, loves Japan. He bought a house in the land of the rising sun as early as 2019, but the YouTuber could not move in because of a lot of problems, the most important of them being COVID. But, now that the pandemic is over and immigration services have finally resumed, Felix did not leave a chance. Recently he moved from his Brighton mansion to his new place in Japan. The YouTuber filmed the entire process and shared it on the platform in two separate videos.
The first video of the two, titled “It finally happened!” was uploaded on May 10, 2022. This video outlines the entire process of Felix and his wife, Marzia’s migration plan and how the couple went for it. The vlog starts around mid-March when the duo gets their visa.
The next challenge Felix had to face was one of his dogs, Edgar’s, health issues and the complexities surrounding him flying him. He had breathing problems and PewDiePie did not feel comfortable putting him in cargo. Thus, he had to fly his private jet to Japan. Throughout the flight, Felix filmed himself. He seemed quite nervous and stressed during the flight as he kept wishing everything would work out fine for his family and the dogs. The first vlog ends when Felix lands in the country, get the immigration process done, and moves into their house.
The second video, titled “whats next?” was uploaded recently on May 15th. This video is more of a PewDiePie-styled talking head video in which the YouTuber goes about how the first few days in his dream country have been. He also expressed his concerns about how the YouTuber and his family are going to make it in the third-largest global economy without knowing Japanese.
He also went over why he moved to the country and the future of the videos. The YouTuber informed the viewers that he will keep making videos, but not for the sake of uploading. He seemed quite happy after having got what he always wanted: a residence in Japan.
