Madden Series has always had problems from server stability to bugs, but the latest Madden 22 has surpassed any other title in the series with the sheer amount and bugs and errors. There are some very serious issues with the game like the desync bug, the game loss bug in franchise mode, and more. But, there are a range of issues in other modes as well such as the Madden 22 Face of the Franchise player name change to John Madden or generic bug and the halftime freezing bug glitch. Let’s have a look at each of the bugs and their solutions.
Madden 22 Face of the Franchise Player Name Change to John Madden or Generic
The previous title in the Madden series also had this same bug. The player name the user chooses does not get used, instead, it’s changed to generic or John Madden. While it may be frustrating to have your name changed to John Madden, it may not be a bug.
While the game allows you to change your name, it has a system in place that flags names that are offensive or inappropriate. If your chosen name is caught by the swear filter, it will be reverted to John Madden or in some cases generic.
If you know that the name you have chosen should not be caused by the swear filter, then, it’s definitely a bug with the system that EA has in place. Even the EA community manager acknowledged that there are times when the system catches names that are not inappropriate at all. Posting the names on the EA forum has not helped either as the EA staff keeps removing them.
For now, the only solution to the Madden 22 Face of the Franchise Player Name Change to John Madden or Generic is to choose a name that the game thinks is appropriate.
Madden 22 Face of the Franchise Freezing after Halftime Glitch
The worst of all bugs is when Madden 22 Face of the Franchise freezes after halftime. The glitch appears when the game goes into halftime. It seems the bug is only triggered when you have possession of the ball and the player is locked before halftime is called.
At the time of writing, there is no fix to the bug. EA community manager has acknowledged the issue and assured that a fix is in the works.
