Stonesword Keys are little sword-shaped stones that act as rare keys used to open special locks. You can find certain sealed areas along your journey in the Lands Between, and the only way to gain access is to get your hands on these keys. To use the Stonesword Key, you will have to find the Imp Statue. There is one Imp Statue near every sealed area. Some areas would require more than one Stonesword key to unlock, which you can check while interacting with the Imp Statue. There is a mini-game where you will have to follow the button prompts that show up to unlock the seal. Once you have used up the key, you won’t find it in your inventory again, since these are consumable items. You can find more of them along your journey. The earliest Stonesword Key you can find is in Stormhill Shack, a bit away from Stormveil Castle. You can also buy them from certain merchants, or receive them as a Keepsake during your character customization.
Not all locked areas hold treasures, as some might house monsters that will be hard to beat early in the game. It is uncertain which areas you should spend your keys on, so you can check around online at what other players have found and which areas are safe to unlock, so you don’t waste all your keys.
