There are two ways to unlock areas on the map, the first being to travel on foot and unlock them, or to find map fragments. Map fragments, when fused, will show you more about the map without the hassle of traveling around and mapping out the locations manually on foot. Finding all the map fragments will also give you the ability to place markers anywhere you wish, and you can also find dungeons and treasure sources you would have otherwise missed.
Below are all the Map Fragment Locations in Elden Ring.
Limgrave, West
The Limgrave’s west map fragment can be found close to Gatefront Ruins, south of Stormgate, leading to Stormveil Castle. Look around the large Stele next to the enemy camp. Defeat the enemies first, because if they notice you, they will come at you in hoards.
Limgrave, East
From getting the first map fragment, keep heading east till you reach Mistwood. It is in the middle of the forest, but you will have to fight off a large bear first.
Weeping Peninsula
Heading towards the South of Limgrave, you will come across the Castle Morne Rampart’s Site of Grace. Follow the road leading up to the large fort to get the map fragment.
Liurnia, East
You will have to wade through the murky waters to get the Lurina east map fragment, which is in the middle of the lake. You can spot the fragment if you visit the Liurnia Lake Shore merchant.
Liurnia, North
Head south of the ruins till you reach the center to get the Liurnia north map fragment, which is also close to the Academy Gate Town’s Site of Grace.
Liurnia, West
Travel furthest north of the lake and Northern Liurnia Lake’s Site of Grace, somewhere up the small hill. You can also find the Liurina west map fragment if you head south from the fortress on the shore.
