Valorant’s latest mode to be added is the Deathmatch. It had been first released on 5th August 2020, on the 1.05 update. Players get spawned randomly on the map with 14 other players. Each round only lasts 9 minutes and players have to get a maximum of 40 kills or reach the time limit for the round to end. This is technically a warm-up stage before trying to play Competitive. Players can test their weapons and choose the one they are most comfortable with.
Tips for playing Deathmatch in Valorant
Though Deathmatch is just a practice tournament to figure out which weapon you are most comfortable with, here are some tips to play Deathmatch effectively.
- Deathmatch is great to test out all the weapons available to find your perfect fit. It’s a great way to figure out the skills needed to get through a match.
- You should be aware of what’s happening in your surroundings. This will help you detect footsteps or gunshots and the direction in which they are coming from.
- Any character skills are deemed temporarily unavailable in a death match, so you do not have to worry about getting smoked or blinded.
- Always aim for the head. Headshots are easy kills and give you instant points.
- Enemies that have been killed always drop first aid kits. These kits not only help replenish health to the max, but can also reload weapons and also fill up armor health.
- Since it’s a free for all game, you won’t have anyone to watch your back, which makes you an easy target to get at from the behind. To counter this, you can keep your back against objects like walls.
- The plus point here is there is no penalty for leaving a deathmatch.
- Players can sometimes show up on the map randomly, so it is always best to keep an eye on the radar on the top left corner.
- You will be assigned a random agent, so you don’t have to worry about character skills in the game.
- Each round of Deathmatch gives you 900 XP.
The only catch is the XP accumulated from completing Deathmatch can’t be used to complete any mission. You would probably get more XP by playing in other modes like Ranked or Unrated.
