Once your empire is strong enough, you may want to start cultivating your spices instead of depending on others. In this guide, we will see how to grow and cultivate and harvest your spices using the Refinery in Dune: Spice Wars.
How to Cultivate Spices Using the Refinery and Harvesters in Dune: Spice Wars
Spice is an important element of the gameplay, and one of the most expensive items to get. Rather than depending on buying spices from others, it would be better to grow your own. Here we will see how to go about it in Dune: Spice Wars.
To start cultivating your spice field, you will first need to explore the land of Arrakis. Once you start exploring you will come across areas where there is a purple indication upon it. These are the area where you can cultivate spices. But you cannot do it yourself. Rather you can deploy civilians to do it for you. Check around the area of the spice deposit to find any nearby village, then liberate them. You can liberate a village by using military units on them to take over.
Next, you will need to build a Refinery in the village. These don’t come cheap, and you have to make sure you have enough resources to build them. You will need exactly 4 days, 500 Plasticrete, and 4 fuel cells to make one Refinery. Now all that is left is to deploy your Harvesters to go and harvest the spices. Click on the Refinery and select Harvester, then click on deploy. You can add a crew to your Harvester by selecting the Harvester option first and then clicking on the Add Crew button on the top right. One crew will cost you 50 Manpower. Also, enabling the Auto-Recall function will bring your crew home on time during a Sandworm sighting, but it will give you a 5% penalty for the harvested spices. As long as your crew is alive, you can put them back on the field once the area is safe again.
