Dune: Spice Wars has four difficulty settings that you can play in – Easy difficulty, Medium difficulty, Hard difficulty, and Insane difficulty. Once you have selected that, you will also have to select which councilor you would prefer to have in your faction. There are a total of four councilors to choose from, two of them are easy difficulty while the other two are the hard difficulty. If you want to make your gameplay even harder, you can disable the tutorial that will play out at the start of the game. This will make you figure out the gameplay by yourself.
Once you start playing Dune: Spice Wars, you will need the help of your Ornithopters to help you reveal more of the map. Right now you will only be able to spot your main base on the map, but with the Ornithopters, you will be able to get more insights into the neighboring regions. You can switch between Map Filter visibilities in the main menu to make the map navigation easier or more difficult.
If you wish to play the game with the most difficult level possible, then your in-game actions can determine that. You can try to ruin relationship levels with other factions by breaking treaties, imposing raids, and conducting Espionages. This will double the difficulty of the game and you will also risk losing the title of leader of Arrakis.
