Genshin Impact Version 3.2 is on the horizon with the Special Program dropping on October 23rd, 2022. With the hype of Nahida’s release in mind, we thought we’d look at the new Dendro meta before she comes and nonchalantly swings on her place at the top.

Dendro changed everything and this is the first time we’re taking a crack at ranking all the Genshin Impact characters in the Dendro meta. So sit back and enjoy. Of course, the following list is objective and but you’re welcome to disagree while we grab a popcorn.

Dendro Meta Tier List in Genshin Impact 3.1

There have been plenty of characters who have been boosted to the top ranks from the bottom of the barrel and so this is like a rise of the underdogs, facilitated by the Dendro element. While some characters aren’t as synergistic in the Dendro meta, some S Tier units have retained their spot in the category due to the sheer utility and power they possess.

In the following tier list, we have tried to mention which characters have a role to play in the new Dendro comps specifically so players can get a better understanding of their role in the new meta.

S Tier

The following characters have changed the game in the Dendro meta. For starters no one expected the Dendro Traveler to ever be featured this high in the meta. Even Yae Miko was bumped up to the S tier ranks due to the release of Dendro. Kokomi who was looked down upon as just a healer with good damage, now actually contributes immensely to Bloom reactions.

A Tier

In A tier, we have many new faces. Same as with a few S Tier characters, some of these characters are only here due to their abilities in Dendro comps and Dendro-related reactions. Keqing and Kuki used to get a lot of hate before the release of Dendro and look where they stand now.

  • Xiao
  • Eula
  • Itto
  • Cyno (Aggravate)
  • Keqing (Aggravate)
  • Tighnari (Spread)
  • Diona (Shield, Healing & Fridge)
  • Nilou (Bloom)
  • Childe (Bloom)
  • Kuki Shinobu (Hyperbloom and Healing)
  • Ayato (Bloom)
  • Barbara (Bloom and Healing)
  • Mona (Bloom)
  • Jean
  • Diluc
  • Yoimiya
  • Beidou (Aggravate)
  • Albedo

B Tier

In B tier too, we have some characters that originally belonged in the C or D tier ranks. Lisa is one of the weakest characters on her own but with Dendro, she comfortably rises to the B rank. Thoma may be a reliable albeit difficult shielder, but he shines spectacularly in Burgeon teams which don’t have many contenders for the role. Sayu’s role in the Dendro meta is tied to Electro characters like Yae Miko or Fischl as she facilitates quick Electro applications with reduced ICD.

C Tier

In C Tier we have the majority of the Geo gang as it continues to be one of the weakest element in the game due to its inability to react with other elements. Dori is one of the new Electro healers that also takes her spot here as she’s not very good at her job.

  • Ningguang
  • Gorou
  • Noelle
  • Chongyun
  • Dori
  • Electro Traveler
  • Geo Traveler

D Tier

In D Tier, we have the bonafide bottom-of-the-rank characters who, even with the release of Dendro, perhaps cannot be redeemed. The following characters have severely flawed kits which earns them this spot in the meta.

  • Anemo Traveler
  • Aloy
  • Amber
  • Xinyan

With the release of Nahida in Version 3.2, we’re sure she’ll take her spot comfortably in the S Tier. As for Layla, leakers and beta testers say her utility is very good and even comparable to or surpassing that of Diona which is a big claim. Other than these 2, the meta is expected to remain the same unless players make some new discoveries and team comps to buff lower-ranked characters.
