Venti is soon getting his rerun banner in Version 3.1 of Genshin Impact and many newer players who don’t have him on their teams will be pulling for the Anemo Archon. As the Anemo Archon, he’s expected to be very strong, but lately, people have been more comfortable using Kazuha, and the monthly Spiral Abyss chart of the most used characters on its floors proves this. Venti has almost become the second-best Anemo option and in this article, we’ll explain why.
Why Venti Fell Off in Genshin Impact
Venti remains the strongest unit for crowd control. His elemental burst is still broken due to having such high scaling, wide-AoE and powerful pull.
Genshin Impact has, however, long since moved on from simplistic mobs, and we now have enemies that refuse to be pulled up or interrupted by his burst- think Abyss Lectors and Abyss Heralds. Spiral Abyss floors also contain literal world bosses these days, who Venti can do nothing against. Additionally, in Venti’s elemental burst, mob enemies are flung too high in the air for your melee characters which wasn’t ideal as it meant a DPS loss.
These are, of course, minor nitpicks, but they were enough for Venti to be replaced by Kazuha as the premium support Anemo unit.
How Kazuha Beats Venti as an Anemo Support
Kazuha’s E skill pulls surrounding enemies towards him while he jumps high into the air. This swirls the surrounding enemies and opens up an opportunity for a plunge attack to affect all nearby enemies. His elemental burst may not have a suction or crowd control utility, but it has a huge AoE and buffs the elemental damage of your teammates.
Technically he’s nowhere close to rivaling Venti’s power, but in terms of utility, he becomes more preferable than him. His elemental damage buff, EM-scaling, and convenient E skill make Kazuha a well-rounded unit. His crowd control may not be as powerful, but it gets the job done, and his damage buffs to teammates become invaluable.
While Venti is still an S-Tier unit, he’s become a much more niche option recently with all the new enemies and elites released into the game- most of which cannot be sucked by his burst and thus are essentially immune to his most powerful utility. That said, the fact that Venti makes the game easy-mode still holds true for the first two regions of the game.
