Players frequently ask whether Overwatch 2 supports the merging account feature so they can keep all their past progress in Overwatch 2.
This guide will help you know about Cross-Progression and Account Merging in Overwatch 2.
How to Merge Accounts in Overwatch 2- Explained
Overwatch 2 is the upcoming first-person shooter game by Blizzard Entertainment and is scheduled to be released on 4th October 2022. If you have played Overwatch and now have the plan to play Overwatch 2 but don’t want to start from scratch, there is the Account Merge feature for you that you can use to merge your Overwatch account to your Overwatch 2 account. For the Console players, merging their console accounts to the Battle.net account is mandatory to play Overwatch 2. Otherwise, they can’t play the game without a Battle.net account.
To merge your console account, you need to have a Battle.net account, but if you are a player without a Battle.net account, don’t worry. You have to create one to merge with your console accounts. Below are the steps to create a Battle.net account and merge accounts-
- Log in to Overwatch to your Console Account.
- Scan the QR Code that appears on your screen (you can use mobile to scan)
- You’ll get a code. Enter it to create your Battle.net account.
- Once the account is created, open it from a browser and link the console accounts. You can do that via the Accounts Menu and Connections tab.
- Select the Consoles you want to link
- Later, when you log in to the game, you have to confirm your console account to merge with your Battle.net account.
These are the steps to merge the accounts if you don’t have a Battle.net account. However, the process will be more straightforward if you already have your Battle.net account. If you have your existing Battle.net account, follow the below steps to merge the Console accounts-
- Open a Browser on your PC or Battle.net Desktop app to log into your Battle. net account.
- Next, go to Accounts Menu
- Click on Connections
- Now, click Nintendo Switch, Xbox, or PlayStation to link.
- Next, open Overwatch and click on the Account Merge Menu
- Click on the Continue option and check whether the screen shows the console accounts you want to link. If everything is all right, follow the further instructions to finish the process; but if you find it wrong, get back to your Battle.net account to correct it.
That’s all you need to do to merge accounts in Overwatch 2. However, remember this account linking and merging process needs to be done before Overwatch 2 comes. Also, you’ll get only one chance to merge your Console accounts, so make sure you merge the right account on which you’ll play your game. Finally, you can only merge one account from a specific platform, meaning players can’t merge two PlayStation or two Xbox accounts. You can only merge one Xbox and One PlayStation account.
