In the world of Genshin Impact, healers play a crucial role in sustaining the health and well-being of your team during battles. These characters can restore HP, cleanse debuffs, and provide crucial support in challenging encounters. Healers in Genshin Impact provide invaluable support by ensuring the team’s survival in battles. Whether you’re exploring the vast landscapes of Teyvat or taking on formidable bosses, having a capable healer in your roster can make a world of difference in your adventures.
Why Dendro Teams Specifically Need Survivability
Dendro teams have a special problem- that of being damaging to your own team if played carelessly. Bloom teams which comprise of primarily Dendro and Hydro units and usually one Pyro or Electro teammate can be dangerous to your on-field DPS or driver as Bloom cores can damage your character by 5% of the damage you deal to your enemies. This means that if you’re in the vicinity of exploding Bloom cores, you’ll take 5% of the damage yourself which might not seem much but can eventually and quickly stack up to dangerous numbers.
To counter this, Bloom teams usually need a healer unless you have a strong and reliable shielder like Zhongli or Diona. Before recent patches, the only viable healers available for Bloom teams were Barbara, Kokomi and Kuki Shinobu since their elements and abilities synergised with the Dendro playstyle and team comps. That said, the lack of Dendro healers prevented players from choosing stronger Hydro and Electro characters like Yae Miko, Raiden Shogun, Ayato or Childe.
Which Dendro Healer Should You Build
With the release of Yaoyao and Baizhu– both Dendro healers from Liyue, the current Dendro team dynamics are shifting to stronger comps and variations. Both Yaoyao and Baizhu are great healers but they are also subtly different in their roles and techniques of healing.
Yaoyao has better range, AoE coverage and more Dendro application but she also demands a bit of field time to be most effective in her primary ability to heal. Baizhu on the other hand only targets a few enemies and thus has vastly less Dendro application. He can’t be counted on as a Dendro driver or reaction support unless you use him on-field which is not recommended. What he does have over Yaoyao is reliable team-wide healing from his E skill and in his burst state, though his shields might be paper thin, they at least act as valuable resistance to stagger or interruption which can ruin your rotations and flow.
Thus if you’re struggling to maintain a smooth rotation then you should pull for Baizhu and build him. On the other hand, if you’re nimble with your fingers and good at dodging and running but still need that healing then Yaoyao is the better and even cheaper investment.
