You also need water to water your plants and crops in farms.

In order to get a steady supply of water, you will need to build a structure where you can store it. This comes in the form of a well. You can start the construction of the well in your building menu at the bar at the bottom of the screen. It is under the Resources tab.
Once you have placed the basic well close to water, it will begin construction. Remember that the position for the well is important, and erecting it close to the water will ensure that you will have more quantity of water. This can be seen by the blue positions on the map which indicate that there is more water in those areas. Try and place your well in the dark blue regions.
After the well is complete, your villagers will be able to use the water that it brings up. If you need more water supply in the future, you can construct more wells, or upgrade the existing ones to keep up with the demand.
