There are some structures you should implement in your village to make use of villagers and turn them into soldiers. While walls and fences can only help you so much, you will also require armed forces to attack enemy invaders. Installing Barracks can train your villagers to become troops. Each time you try to train a villager, it will cost you some gold. You will also need to pay for the upkeep of your troop during this time, so it will take up a large chunk of gold if you are not prepared.
Once you have soldiers, you can assign them to be garrisoned inside Barracks or stand on the front line. Garrisoned soldiers can fire their bows and arrows at incoming threats, while soldiers on the frontline will engage in combat.
If you wish to deploy your troops to a designated area, you can use the Rally Point to place a flag at an area of your choosing. You can find the Rally Point in the Barracks UI, by pressing the Flag Combat Area button. Once your soldiers are deployed, they will stay there till they are commanded to go back to the Barracks or if the rally point is moved. Be careful not to keep them on the field without a command for too long, as they will inevitably starve and die.
Besides training them to become soldiers, they will also require the necessary equipment. Supplying them with tough armor and sturdy weapons can help you emerge victorious in battle.
