There are several options you can use during early games to heal your character. Besides consuming food, you can also purchase items like bandaids and healing packs from vendors. But the best item to own are med packs. The reason why med packs are deemed the best is the fact that you can quickly select it from your hotbar, which saves time while in battle. Because of the ease of access, med packs are highly sought after and more convenient to use. To find med packs, you need to scavenge First Aid Kits inside buildings. First Aid Kits are hard to miss since they have a green glow around a plus sign, and are usually found on walls. You might also find med packs on corpses, so loot dead bodies as well.

Another way to get med packs is to purchase them from vendors. Most vendors in major cities will have a stock of med packs, so when you find them, it is best to purchase all of them. Also, visiting the Reliant Medical hospital is a great way to heal and purchase med packs.

You can equip med packs in your quick select section and press the respective key to use them. This option is not available for any other healing consumable besides med packs. Doing this will save you some time in healing instead of rummaging through your inventory.
