To open weapon crates, you need to get a certain type of lockpicking item called rewire kit. As soon as you get a rewire kit, you can simply visit any weapon crate and interact with it to unlock it. You don’t have to equip the kit, nor is there any minigame to solve. Just go up to the crate and press X to unlock it.
How to Get Rewire Kits in Redfall
To get rewire kits, you have to complete the part of the game where you escape the ferry. After that, they will randomly spawn inside buildings, containers, and toolboxes. If you are having a hard time trying to get your hands on one, then you can visit any of the lost and found safehouse stores and purchase it for coins. If you are short in cash, then you can salvage and pick up any random loot in the game to automatically convert it into coins.
