MLB the Show 22 – Baserunning Guide
MLB the Show 22 depends more on skill than luck, and how you play the game will impact if you win or lose. Here we will see how to play as a baserunner in MLB the Show 22.
If you are new to the game and need some general guidelines while playing as a baserunner, there are a few things to keep in mind. You should always keep an eye on where the ball is heading and you’re your move accordingly. You should also keep in mind who you are playing against. Anyone with a strong arm will be hard to beat unless you can keep up. You can even trick the defense into making mistakes if you can. Take advantage of your speed if you can manage to run above 90 mph.

With that in mind, there are three styles of baserunning that you can try to get ahold of. You can first test them out in practice mode to see which style suits you the best. You can also change it under settings anytime you wish to swap. Below are the styles you can select to play in.
Default
This is the most popular baserunning technique that has been extensively used over the years in the previous MLB titles. The controls are fairly simple, with L1/ LB/ L to advance all runners, and R1/ RB/ R to return to base. Use the left stick to point the runner in the direction you want to go and hit the base. Hold the right stick down to perform a feet-first slide or right stick up for a head-first dive. Use L2/ LT/ ZL to steal while the pitcher is just starting his delivery, and holding down this button will let you choose where you want to place them and when to let go.
Classic
Similar to the default, in Classic mode, you can control anyone specific runner. You can select them using the face button and use the D-Pad to control their movements.
Auto Baserunning
This style is simple to understand, as this allows the AI to control your baserunner. This is for players who would like to not have the added trouble of controlling a baserunner as well, as can set an AI to make decisions for you. You can easily overrule the AI if you wish to make your own decisions.
Single Player
You can choose to play a single player while under Diamond Dynasty or Road to the Show. You can use your left stick to keep going by pressing up, and down to go back. Press right to steal and RB to focus on the ball.
