Intel will be coming up with the Raptor Lake series of processors later this year. Rumors and leaks surrounding the available SKUs and their performance metrics have been on the internet for a while now. The Core i9 13900K will pack 24 cores. Amongst these, there will be eight performance-focused P cores and sixteen efficient E cores. The processor reaches up to 5.8 GHz under turbo boost clocks. Overall, it will be one of the most powerful processors money can buy.
Team Red’s answer to the Core i9 13900K is the Ryzen 9 7950X. This processor packs 16 cores and 32 threads. It can boost up to 5.7 GHz. AMD has already unveiled this processor. It will launch later this month on September 27. The processor will compete with the 13900K for the performance crown.
Recently, some benchmark data of these processors were revealed. In the testing, the Core i9 13900K is seen to destroy the Ryzen 9 7950X under stock conditions. With the power limits removed, the 13900K embarrassed AMD’s highes-end processor by a even higher margin.
The Core i9 13900K processor hit 35,700 points in the multi-core performance metrics in Cinebench R23. With the power limits removed, the processor hit 40,616 points. In contrast, the Ryzen 9 7950X hit 29,649 points in the same benchmark. With some fancy AIO liquid cooling and extreme overclocking measures, however, the processor scaled to up to 38,984 point in a recent leak.
However, no single-core performance metrics of the Tyzen 9 7950X have been revealed to date. In the same test, the Core i9 12900K scored 26,229 in terms of multi-core performance. The Ryzen 9 5950X is almost equivalent to the 12900K with a score of 26,291 points.
The upcoming processors boast a huge performance gain over the last-gen counterparts. Both of the highest-end offerings promise an increase over 10,000 points in R23. For AMD, this massive performance overall comes at a cheaper price tag. The Ryzen 9 7950X is $50 cheaper as compared to the last gen 5950X.
