Removing your headgear is quite easy, and after acquiring it and applying it to your character, you can remove it anytime you wish. To do that, press the start/pause button to open up your character settings. Click on Change Equipment and then select the helmet. Check the bottom left side to find an option saying Display Headgear. You can click the corresponding button to toggle it on or off. If you click it once, you can remove the headgear but keep the accessories associated with it, but if you click the button again then it will remove all the headgear pieces.
Another way you can try to get your helmet off is to visit the Forge. The rest of the options remain the same, and you can quickly navigate to the helmet option under the Change Equipment menu.
As stated above, while you don’t have your helmet on display, you can still make use of the bonus it gives because it is still equipped under your gear. This does not apply to the other armor pieces, as those have to be worn to get the benefits.
