You need to make friends in Dinkum if you wish to receive gifts and mail, and also to ask for their help in tasks. You can interact with any of the residents by going up and talking to them. There is a heart meter above their name tag with 5 empty hearts, which fills up the more you talk to them. To fill up the meter, even more, you can complete certain tasks that they ask from you. These are known as favors, and for completing each favor you can fill out a quarter of the meter. If you refuse or couldn’t complete the favor, the meter rating will reduce. Various favors will be asked, such as buying or bringing them a certain item, or even buying or taking away an item from them.
Most of the NPCs you meet are not residents of the area. By leveling up your Friendship status with them, you can ultimately ask them to become residents. You will need to purchase a Deed that can help you build a permanent residence for them, and you can get a Deed from Fletch. You will need to make sure that you don’t have any debts from a previous Deed and that you are currently not building anything if you wish to get a Deed.
