However, you might need to progress a little farther into the game before you’re ready to do some treasure hunting. The first thing that you’ll need to do is get the right tools. While you can dig up random spots on the map, it’s much more efficient to use a Metal Detector.
This item can be purchased from John’s shop for 6,600 Dinks. However, it won’t be available if you only have John in the tent. Once you have John’s shop established, it will be available in the room.
Purchase the Metal Detector and equip it to be able to use it. You can have it equipped as you walk across the island, but be aware that this will drain its durability. Most biomes seem to have all sorts of treasure hidden underneath the soil, even in the sandy biome.
To find treasure, you will need to listen to the beeps of the Metal Detector as well as the vibration animations on screen. Once the tool has found something worth beeping, it will let you know.
Usually, you will get some gear or machine parts which can be put to use later in the game, so hold on to them. They are also quite expensive and you can sell them if you need quick cash. The best type of treasure probably are the gold boulders which can be weighed and sold for a fortune, so keep an eye out for those.
