It has been a month since its release, but Halo Infinite is still not free of bugs and game issues. Game developers 343 Industries have tried to solve most issues that players face. But now, one bug has started to rear its ugly head and has forced many players to quit the game entirely.
The new bug that players have found in their game has the ability to corrupt the save files and destroy entire campaign files. Hours’ worth of gameplay just down the drain for no fault of their own. This bug also has the ability to corrupt players’ profiles, which makes it impossible to log into multiplayer modes.
Apparently, this bug has started to affect both Xbox and PC gamers. While some players couldn’t log in at all, some of them reported that even if they could log in, their save files were wiped clean.
Youtuber Dustin K had made a three and a half minute video showcasing the issue of the bug corrupting save files
Resetera user 99humanity has done a clear breakdown of what to do when faced with the issue and has left some pointers for those who are going to try playing the game.
If you or anyone you know are facing the same issues, you can take note of the following:
- To know if you are getting a bug after you log in you will get a pop-up box that will ask you to log into your Xbox account. Do not press the green “Let’s Go” button, as this will instantly corrupt your file.
- If you have pressed the “Let’s Go” button, the system will take that as a second log in even after you are logged in and will corrupt your file.
- The game glitch also occurs when there are two or more controllers detected. The cause of this can be anything from controller disconnect and reconnect or even if both the KMB and controller are being used.
- Even if you have managed to get so far as to load a save file, it will not be playable and you will be instantly kicked out of the save file and it will be erased. Also, you cannot recover the corrupted file.
The only way to make sure you do not suffer the same fate as everyone else when the pop-up box shows up or if you do happen to press the “Let’s Go”, close the game entirely and then re-launch it. For some players, this has worked in helping them keep their saved files and allowed them to play the game as usual. So far, 343 Industries has not come up with the solution yet, but maybe players can expect a patch update to counter this soon.
