Fix Star Wars: Squadrons HOTAS Not Working

In order to resolve the Star Wars HOTAS not working error, there are a bunch of solutions you can try. But, before you attempt to try any of the solutions, ensure that the only peripherals connected to the system is the HOTAS. Often when too many devices are connected to the PC, it can fail to recognize new devices. So, unplug the HOTAS and other peripherals you are not using and restart the system. After the reboot, connect the HOTAS and it should work under normal circumstance.

If the problem persists, you need to disable the Steam Input per-game Setting. To perform the process, launch the Steam client after plugging the HOTAS to the system. Go to Library, right-click on Star Wars: Squadron, and select Properties. From the General tab, look for Steam Input Per-Game Settings (Requires restart of game) and select Forced Off from the drop-down menu.

Finally, if that fails, with the HOTAS still connected to the system, Launch the Steam client > click on Steam > Settings > Controller > click on General Controller Settings. Ensure that the Generic Gamepad Configuration Support is unchecked. Save the changes. Now, launch the game and go to control settings. The HOTAS will be listed as an option, select it and you should be able to use the device.
