Hyper Scape is available for players in the technical test phase. To get a copy of the game, you need to follow the same process as Valorant, which is to watch Hyper Scape stream on Twitch. But, early players trying to jump in the game are reporting a fatal error “Vulkan-1.dll was not found.” This error is preventing the game from launching and appears as “the code execution cannot proceed because vulkan-1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.” The error has become so widespread we decided to do a post on it.
The Vulkan-1.dll is related to the Vulkan Graphics API used by the game. The Hyper Scape Missing Vulkan-1.dll error can be caused due to a bunch of reasons such as missing or deleted vulkan-1.dll file, a fault with the game files, registry damage, or a malicious software targeting the particular DLL file.
You can fix the problem by updating your GPU and if the problem persists, download the Vulkan-1.dll and install it separately (you should only do this when you are really desperate, I personally don’t recommend this). Here are all the fix you can try for the problem.
Fix 1: Ensure System Requirements are Met
Before we even begin attempting to fix the error, you should ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements to play Hyper Scape. The primary reason users come across the Vulcan error is when their system configuration is below the recommended level.

Fix 3: Ensure Drivers are Up-to-date
First and foremost, you must tend to update your graphics card driver. Ensure that it’s updated. Once to have updated the graphics drivers, do the same for sound card, processor, and motherboard. Perform a clean install of graphics card drivers. For AMD users, you need to first uninstall your current driver. Then, download the latest copy from the official website and install it.
For Nvidia users, you have a simple option of clean install. Download the latest copy of the driver and during the installation process choose Custom Install and then Clean Install. Try running the game and check if the Hyper Scape Vulkan Error still occurs.
Fix 4: Ensure Windows is Up-to-Date
If the error still persists, you need to update the Windows as well. Check if you have automatic updates on. If you don’t, set it to automatic and perform a check. Press Windows Key + I > Update & Security > Windows Update > click Check for Update. Download and install the update. Your system will prompt to restart after the update. Once the PC reboots, launch the game and check if the “Vulkan-1.dll was not found” error still occurs.

If there are corrupt or missing files of the game that can cause the Hyper Scape Vulkan Error. Therefore, you must verify the files. From Uplay > click on Games > hover over Hyper Scape (an arrow will appear)> click the arrow to open a drop-down menu > select Verify files.
Wait for the process to complete and launch the game, the error should have resolved. If not, try the next fix.
Fix 6: Provide Administrator Rights to Uplay
Lack of privileges to the launcher can prevent it from performing certain essential functions on the PC. Thereby, leading to the Vulkan error. Hence, you must provide Uplay admin privilege. Here are the steps.
- Right-click on the desktop shortcut of Uplay or the executable in the installed folder
- Select Properties
- Go to Compatibility tab
- Check the box that reads Run this program as an administrator
- Click Apply and OK.
Fix 7: Terminate Background Applications

- Go to the Services tab
- Check Hide all Microsoft services
- Now, click Disable all
- Click on Apply and OK.
Try launching the game, check if the error still occurs.
Fix 8: Uninstall and Reinstall Uplay
Finally, if nothing has worked in resolving the error, you may want to completely uninstall Uplay and install it again. We recommend that you perform a system backup before you proceed with uninstalling.
Fix 9: Clear Windows Temporary Files
Here are the steps to delete temp files form your OS.
- Open the Run dialogue box by pressing on Windows Key + R
- Type %temp% in the field and hit Enter
- Press Ctrl + A and hit Delete (if you cannot delete some files, let them be and close the Window)
We hope that the Hyper Scape Vulkan Error “Vulkan-1.dll was not found” has been fixed. If it still persists, you should raise a ticket with Ubisoft. After all, the purpose of a technical test beta is to address errors like this with the game.
