Humankind is a strategy game that spans 7 eras in history. The decisions you make at the start of an era determines much of the gameplay. Being a multiplayer game, one would expect the functionality to work flawlessly. However, a lot of users are running into the Humankind “Failed to join a multiplayer game” error when they attempt to play a multiplayer game.

This is currently one of the problems with the game besides the crashing problem and the Unity engine error. Fortunately, the solution to fix the problem is quite straightforward.

How to Fix Humankind “Failed to join a multiplayer game” Error

The cause of the error is unknown but it seems there is a glitch with the game. Sometimes trying to load multiplayer can also freeze the game and lead to a crash. It’s because you may be attempting to perform other functions while the game is still loading Shaders, textures, and other background resources.

To fix the Humankind “Failed to join a multiplayer game” error, all you need to do is reboot the game. When you encounter the error simply close the game and try to start it again. Once the game has booted completely attempt to perform the same action or task again. As the game is loading into multiplayer, it’s possible that the screen would freeze. At this point, it is crucial that you don’t click on the screen until the multiplayer has fully loaded.

Clicking on the screen interferes with the game’s resource loading process and the multiplayer fails to load. Ideally, this should not happen and it’s most likely due to poor optimization, but until the devs resolve the issue in a patch this is what you need to do to avoid the multiplayer error.

That’s all we have in this guide. Hope it’s helped you resolve the problem. If you have a better solution let us know in the comments.
