The Rings of Power has begun, and three episodes were already released. In these three episodes, a wide range of characters have been introduced with several unique and mysterious artifacts and weapons. Sauron is one of the most popular characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of Rings. The Rings of Power starts the story from the early part of the Second Age but has already shown some indications that signify Sauron’s arrival in this Series. In this guide, we’ll try to discuss the theories regarding Sauron’s appearance in The Rings of Power.
Sauron in The Rings of Power- When Will He Appear?
In The Lord of Rings, Sauron appeared as a low-key character at the beginning of the Second Age after the defeat of Commander Morgoth at the end of the First Age. After losing the commander and the entire army, Sauron becomes weak and spends the first 1500 years recollecting the forces. During this time, we see his rise and forming a powerful army to fight against the elves.
During this age, he gained the ability to change his form, and he disguised himself to enter the elves as one of them. He took a new identity for himself- Annatar. He targeted the best smith of that community and provided him with unique powers and abilities to craft the Rings of Power. His main aim was to rule over all these races- elves, men, and dwarves. Though he was semi-successful in capturing the King’s men, the elves throw away their rings immediately, and dwarves are proved to be too strong to be corrupted. Therefore, his plan was not successful. In the war between Sauron and the elves, the elves win the fight with the help of Numenoreans. Sauron was taken as a prisoner by Numenoreans.
Sauron again enters the Numenoreans and becomes the right hand of the King. He convinced him to worship Morgoth by sacrificing the White Tree and sending soldiers to the west to capture the Undying Lands and defeat Valar.
Becoming the main antagonist of The Lord of the Rings, the appearance of Sauron is mandatory to The Rings of Power. Sooner or later, he will appear for sure. The Series already gave hints of his existence. For example, his mark on the body of Galadriel’s Brother, Finrod, the broken Sword of Theo, etc. The Trailer of the Series shows the conversation between Galadriel and Elrond, where Galadriel warns that an enemy is coming. Probably it’s Sauron who she is indicating.
That’s all we know about Sauron in The Rings of Power. Though the character hasn’t yet appeared, the signs indicate that soon he will come.
