The Rings of Power has begun, and three episodes were already released. In these three episodes, a wide range of characters have been introduced with several unique and mysterious artifacts and weapons. Sauron is one of the most popular characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. In the Rings of Power, Halbard is a mysterious character who doesn’t clearly tell his past as if he is running from it. This guide will try to introduce the character of Halbrand in The Rings of Power.
The Rings of Power- Theories of Halbrand- Explained
In Episode 2 of The Rings of Power, we have seen Halbrand to be left alone on a boat in the Sundering Seas, and this is where he met Galadriel. After a sea creature attacked their boat, they were the only two survivors. However, Halbrand’s past is a mystery, and it seems to haunt him. Galadriel seems attracted to Halbrand and thinks of starting life with him. Halbrand also thought of starting a new life after they reached Numenor. However, he found it challenging soon.
Later, Halbrand is discovered to be the heir of the Southlands Throne. But he said to Galadriel that he couldn’t be the hero she has been looking for. Also, he found out that his ancestors formed allies with Morgoth against the Elves. So now, from this thing, the audience is developing theories that Halbrand is probably Sauron in disguise. After the War of Wrath ends, he disguised as Annatar and mixed with the elves to reign over the men, elves, and dwarves. Though he successfully bends the King’s men in front of him with the help of the Rings of Power, the other two races were too hard to get corrupted. Sauron was never killed; he always escaped and reappeared in a new form with more powers. Therefore, maybe this time, he appeared as Halbrand.
If Sauron is really Halbrand, it’ll be a tragedy for Galadriel because her only companion and probably the loved one is the one who killed his brother Finrod. So, for the sake of her revenge, Galadriel refused to go back to the Undying Lands and come to Middle-earth.
This theory is an assumption, though. We don’t know if it’s true. Alternatively, Halbrand can be a random guy without any link with the villains of the story. He may have a dark past, but not necessarily related to the royal bloodline and evilness. His story may be completely different. However, it is hard to say anything about Halbrand until the story unfolds his character a little more.
