The Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power is an American Fantasy TV Show mainly based on J.R.R Tolkien’s history of Middle-earth. Though the author has a book of the same name, “The Lord of the Rings,” this TV series is set before the novel’s time. In 2017, Amazon bought the rights to the novel “The Lord of the rings” and started filming it. After a long gap of almost 5 years, finally, on 1st September 2022, the premier of the TV series comes with the first two episodes.
There are lots of characters who have already been introduced and who will be introduced in this series. This guide will discuss about Adar in The Rings of Power.
Adar in The Rings of Power- Explained
Adar is an already introduced character in The Lord of Rings: The Ring of Power. At the end of Episode 3, the audience gets a glimpse of this character. He is the leader of the Orcs, whom the audience suspects to be another name of Sauron. At the end of episode 3, we glimpse this mysterious character, but nothing more is told, leaving the audience excited and curious.
The Character of Adar is played by a renowned actor we have seen before, Benjen Stark in The Game of Thrones. Joseph Mowle is an excellent and experienced actor in the industry who played tons of renowned characters. Starting from 1998, he still gives his best to every character he plays.
In the last episode, when the escape plan of Arondir and Elves from the Orcs went wrong at that time, one of the Orc commanders took the name of Adar, and everyone started chanting his name. Next, we only find glove hands and an outline of a character. It is clear that he is going to be the main Antagonist.
Though we don’t know who exactly Adar is, according to the audience, he may be an elf as the outline seems like an elf. Well, that makes sense, too, because the novel says that the Orcs were Elves once. But Morgoth’s torture made them what they are now. So, if Adar is an elf, it defines their connection.
A part of the audience believes that he is the father of Theo, the boy in the Southland village. Coincidentally, the word ‘Adar’ means father in the Sindarin language. Moreover, we have seen Theo in the same area, who has an absent father. Also, Theo’s connection with the Mysterious Spooky Wood with Sauron’s mark somewhat indicates the possibility that Adar is Theo’s father.
Another part of the audience says that Adar is originally Sauron. After the death of Morgoth, he fled and hid to survive, but we know that he will make his appearance sometimes later. This theory is pretty much justified because Sauron used to command the Morgoth army before, and now Adar is commanding the Orcs. Another important point is that Sauron made allies with Morgoth in the Southlands, and again the story took us to the Southlands, where we find Orcs and Adar.
That’s all we know about Adar until now. As the story unfolds in the subsequent episodes of The Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power, we will find who Adar actually is. Until then, you have to wait patiently and watch all the episodes of the show.
