Strategy to defeat Brutes in Dead Space Remake
Brutes have two weak spots; their back and the yellow sacs between their shoulders. The quickest way to deal with them is to use Stasis to slow them down, then use the Plasma Cutter or Line Gun to sever their legs so they cannot run anymore. You can then quickly get behind them and shoot at the yellow sacs using the Pulse Rifle or Ripper to sever their arms. You then need to shoot at the base of their spine to immobilize them. The brute might occasionally spit a vat of acid or poison at you, which you can catch using Kinesis and toss it back at it. In the end, use the Flamethrower to get rid of the creature.
Once you are familiar with defeating Brutes, you will encounter the Super Brute later on. These are just enhanced Brutes, but the strategy for defeating them is almost the same.

If you encounter one, use Stasis to lock them in place, then quickly use the Contact Beam, Ripper, or the Pulse Rifle’s secondary fire to hit the sacs on its shoulders. You can even cut off its legs after and hit its back like before. Finish it off with the Flamethrower.
