According to a recent job posting on Microsoft Careers, the Xbox Games team is planning to recruit a Director of Japan Creator Partnerships, a role that was put up on the 21st of December, 2022. The role description details how they wish to strengthen bonds with other big Japanese Content Creators and bridge the gap between Xbox and Japan’s gaming ecosystem.
Sony and Nintendo seem to have a stronger foothold in Japan, but Xbox has been keeping up with the growing trends. With the addition of Persona 5 Royal to the Game Pass, as well as the upcoming release of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty being included, Xbox is keeping an eye on the Japanese market. Earlier this year, Xbox partnered up with Kojima Productions, the studio behind the Metal Gear series. While the partnership is fruitful, with Xbox planning to release an exclusive title under the studio, Kojima Productions claims it is still an independent house and will work with both PS and Xbox. Also, Xbox’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media has further heightened its reach.
The job responsibilities for the new posting further explain that Xbox plans to introduce diverse game types and styles to increase the representation of all Gamers, while also keeping business growth and success in mind. The chosen candidate would have to recruit, develop, and retain a team that will help the Xbox Games team achieve these goals. The complete details for the posting can be found on the Microsoft Careers page.
