With Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward hopes to reinvent the Call of Duty experience, and the new Prisoner Rescue breach-and-clear game mode and Knockout modes might help. Modern Warfare 2 is yet another watershed moment in the COD franchise.
After setting the new blueprint for the series in MW 2019, IW is returned to give the cherished franchise yet another facelift. This year brings a slew of new features, but few are as game-changing as the two brand-new Prisoner Rescue and Knockout game modes, which will join the rotation in October 2022.
This guide will teach you about the new multiplayer modes in the Modern Warfare 2.

New Multiplayer Modes
Geoffrey Smith and Joe Cecot, Infinity Ward’s multiplayer design directors, closed the roughly 90-minute presentation by revealing a little bit about the future multiplayer component for MWII while reserving any video for a complete unveiling at a later date.
Following are the two new multiplayer modes in the Modern Warfare 2:
Knockout
Knockout is more comparable to Modern Warfare 2019’s Gunfight mode and Black Ops Cold War’s Gunfight mode. Teams will compete for possession of a package using a limited number of lives.
Whoever has the package at the conclusion of the round wins, thus breaking rival setups and denying them the objective will require some serious teamwork.
Prisoner Rescue
Prisoner Rescue incorporates the typical hostage rescue scenario used in franchises like Counter-Strike and Rainbow Six, while yet maintaining the high-octane Call of Duty experience.
On the map, there are two captives, and teams are divided into Attackers and Defenders. The attackers can win the round by either guiding the captives to safety or eliminating all defenders. Defenders will win if they either keep the captives for the full round or eliminate the approaching forces.
All of these improvements, as well as new swimming mechanics, are certain to provide a fresh flavour to the classic arena shooter action. That’s all Infinity Ward was prepared to say regarding MWII multiplayer for the time being, although more will most certainly be shown off this summer leading up to the game’s release on Oct. 28.
