Microsoft is in the works to unveil a new Xbox Showcase during Q1 2023. After the disappointing no-show at this year’s The Game Awards, Xbox seems to make a comeback by debuting a new working title. While talking about it during The Third Annual Grubbsmas Specialtacular episode in The XboxEra Podcast, Jeff Grubb mentioned a Pentiment-level game is in the works, and it is not from Obsidian.
Further, into the podcast, it was revealed to be a project by Tango Gameworks. There was no more information, and fans would have to wait for the reveal during Q1. The Q1 is rumored to take place somewhere before E3, from January to March. Tango Gameworks had just wrapped up their 2022 title Ghostwire: Tokyo, so another game with the same gameplay length as Pentiment from a first-party studio will appear for the Xbox.
It was also confirmed by Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker that Sifu will make its way to Xbox and Steam in March and that Redfall has been rumored for an internal delay, possibly for an early May release instead of March. Redfall didn’t have a fixed date for release in the first place, so for now it is speculated as a rumor. After the acquisition of ZeniMax, Xbox players can expect plenty of first-party titles to hit the platform next year.
Also, fans can expect plenty of JRPG titles in the coming years. With the addition of Persona 5 to the Game Pass, and Microsoft posting an ad on their careers page for a Director of Japan Creator Partnerships, Microsoft is hoping to strengthen ties with Japan’s content creators. It was also mentioned in the podcast that Xbox is trying to bring Shin Megami Tensei Games, but could take time similar to when Persona 5 hit the Game Pass.
