As you play the game you will come across several skill sets that you can equip to use on your enemies. Ghostwire: Tokyo has a skill tree mechanism where you can unlock more skills that help you improve your combat. Called the Ethereal Weaving Skill Tree, this mechanism lets you upgrade your skills as you advance in the game.

There are 21 skills that you can unlock in the skill tree, which are divided into four types, and these skills are used to fight different enemies. Three of these four types are inspired by the three elements of wind, water and fire, while the last one consists of charged attacks.

Wind Weaving Skill
The Wind Weaving skill is called Shinashiki, and it lets the player charge at their enemies with strong bouts of air. This is the first elemental skill that you will unlock in the game. There are five skills in this category.
- Shinatobe I: Increases the fire rate for Wind Weaving attacks by 15%
- Shinatobe II: Increases the fire rate for Wind Weaving attacks by 30%
- Shinatobe III: Increases the fire rate for Wind Weaving attacks by 50%
- Shinatshiko I: Increases the shots fired for charged Wind Weaving attacks to 3
- Shinatshiko II: Increases the shots fired for charged Wind Weaving attacks to 4
Water Weaving Skill
The Water Weaving skill is called Wadashiki and it allows you to use heavy bursts of water to destroy your enemies. It unlocks in Chapter 2, and there are five skills in this category.
- Wadanokami I: Increases the width of charged Water Weaving attacks to 5 meters
- Wadanokami II: Increases the width of charged Water Weaving attacks to 7 meters
- Wadanokami III: Increases the width of charged Water Weaving attacks to 9 meters
- Wadatsumi I: Increases the shots fired for Water Weaving attacks to 2
- Wadatsumi II: Increases the shots fired for Water Weaving attacks to 3
Fire Weaving Skill
Hinoshik, or the Fire Weaving skill, lets players unleash fiery blasts on their opponents. This skill is unlocked from the beginning, with five sub-skills.
- Hinokagabiko I: Increases the explosion radius for charged Fire Weaving attacks to 5
- Hinokagabiko II: Increases the explosion radius for charged Fire Weaving attacks to 6
- Hinokagabiko III: Increases the explosion radius for charged Fire Weaving attacks to 9
- Hinokagutsuchi I: Enables Fire Weaving attacks to pierce through one enemy
- Hinokagutsuchi II: Enables Fire Weaving attacks to pierce through multiple enemies and objects

Charged Attack Skill
The charged attacks are a special category with three skills called Takehaya. These are meant to be passive boosts that work best with other skills.
- Takehaya I: Enables the player to conduct charged Ethereal Weaving attacks of the equipped element
- Takehaya II: Shortens the charge time for charged Ethereal Weaving attacks by 25%
- Takehaya III: Shortens the charge time for charged Ethereal Weaving attacks by 50%
