Since DMZ mode is said to be similar to Escape from Tarkov, players can also expect a similar gameplay style to it. If you die, you will lose all your loot, and the higher the loot value, the more risk and rewards you will get. Players can also convert downed enemies to play in their squad, so that’s a plus point you will encounter. You will also have to hold down your stronghold before you can venture out to find the hidden loot. The backdrop of DMZ mode will be set against the Al Mazrah map from Warzone 2.

There is also speculation that DMZ mode will be tied with Warzone 2, so any progression, items bought, and skins can be carried over between MW2 and Warzone 2. This can be done with the help of the Marketplace, where various items can be bought, sold, or traded between both games. There will also be a crafting menu just like in the campaign mode, where you have to craft items such as the Pry tool. You also have to open boxes and crates to get equipment and tools using the Pry tool.

Since both games are tied using this mode, the launch date for DMZ will arrive during Warzone 2’s launch, that is, on November 16th

Besides the main objective, DMZ also offers plenty of other missions and objectives that you can select. A leak suggested that the activities can vary, from finding hostages to finding intel and checking out areas for radioactivity. Furthermore, DMZ mode will be free to play, have 18 points of interest to explore, and will house over 100 players on the map.

What is Warzone 2.0 DMZ Mode About?

DMZ Mode is an extraction type mode termed as a Supply Run, where you are given a backpack to stash your loot. Your loot can contain weapons, attachments, medical aid, and tactical or lethal weapons. You can swap, equip, or toss out anything in your backpack by selecting, dragging, and dropping the item. The weapons you get are contraband, but you can also come across weapon blueprints to use in your insured slot. You get one insured slot in the beginning, but you can unlock more when you complete faction missions. As for contraband weapons, you can find them around the Al Mazrah map, but if you die they are lost for good.

Besides looting and stashing resources, you can also join factions, accept contracts, and participate in world missions. There are three factions that you can join, the Legion, White Lotus, and Black Mous. When you first enter DMZ mode, you will be assigned to the Legion, but you can unlock the other factions when you complete faction missions and get up the faction tiers. Contracts contain missions like shipment retrieval, hostage situations, bounty hunts, and more. World Missions contain side missions like holding enemy strongholds, unlocking safes, and gathering intel, among other missions.

You will also come across enemy Operators and AI guards during your journey. You can either befriend the operators and team together or eliminate them and take their loot. Guards, on the other hand, will be guarding secret areas, so you need to either eliminate them as well to gain access or find the key.

How to Exfil in DMZ Mode

When the time comes to get out of the site, you or your team can call in helicopters to get you out. But these extraction sites will appear at random, and not all of them will be suitable to get out of. You have to find the right one to exfil safely. There will also be enemy operators and AI guards who will try to stop you, so you should plan your exit accordingly. You will also face sandstorms and radioactivity while trying to get out, which reduces your health. Your main objective is to avoid death, as this will mean losing your stash, especially if you are not working in a team. Thankfully, you can revive a downed or fallen teammate and keep their stash safe till they revive. But solo players will have to be weary to not lose their hoard.

How to Access Collected Stash in DMZ Mode

Once you successfully exfil out of the extraction site with your stash, you can get access to it before your next match in the lobby’s storage room. You can then equip or change your loadout to prepare you for the next round.

Can you Work in a Team in DMZ Mode?

There are three player modes you can choose to play DMZ in; solo, duos, or trio. Solo players will be more susceptible to death and getting loot stolen, so unless you are great at negotiating with enemy operators who come for you, you should not try to play solo if this is your first time. Working in groups can help you with the revival of a downed or dead teammate.
