The initial rumblings about a remake of The Last of Us reached the internet a little more than a year ago, owing to a Bloomberg report about a reorganisation within Sony Interactive Entertainment. PlayStation’s not-so-secret San Diego production unit, the Visual Arts Service Group, allegedly worked as the main developer on the remake project previously.
For unclear reasons, Sony finally returned control to The Last of Us creator Naughty Dog. Neither company has acknowledged the new game’s existence as of yet, but a leaked teaser indicates that a rebuilt version of Joel and Ellie’s initial journey might be released later in 2022.

The Last of Us: PC Release
Many people are persuaded that Naughty Dog’s reported The Last of Us remake will be released in September for PC and PS5 platforms, thanks to a cryptic tweet from leaker and Twitter user The Snitch.
The leaker’s cryptic tweet simply states “PART 1” followed by the date 02-09-2022 — the same day as the PS5’s release. The mystery social media post is completed with emojis for a controller and a laptop.
Of course, “PART 1” may be TLOU Part 1, with the two emojis perhaps implying a console and PC release. Given that February 2 has already passed, the 02-09 date must imply that something is planned for September 2 of this year.
The Last of Us isn’t the only popular assumption for the alleged leak in question. Some fans believe the first installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released on Xbox and Steam.
That’s all there is to know about The Last of Us’ upcoming release (TLOU). For additional information on upcoming releases, see the game release guide for other games.
