Eight years after Alien: Isolation first appeared on consoles and PC, the Xenomorphs are back in Aliens: Dark Descent, a new top-down action game rooted in the renowned sci-fi universe. Ridley Scott’s 1979 blockbuster Alien produced five sequels and innumerable crossovers and tie-ins, making it one of the most beloved IPs in popular culture.
It’s a franchise that has even moved into video games, with different degrees of success. Aliens Colonial Marines was widely derided as a poor first-person shooter, but Alien: Isolation masterfully caught the horror feel of the movie and made the Xenomorph the terrible monster it should be.
Here’s everything we know so far, from how the gameplay looks to which platforms it will be available on.

In Dark Descent, players take command of a squad of Colonial Marines attempting to halt a Xenomorph epidemic in a top-down action game. As the commander, you will be asked to assemble the ideal squad by combining various classes and talents, then issue orders in real-time battle.
The aliens have taken over Moon Lethe, and your soldiers will have to deal with Facehuggers, Praetorians, Alien Queens, and other creatures as you try to clean up the devastation. Rogue human commandos and a “brand-new enemy” will also be there to put your tactical thinking to the test.
