While you may be used to fighting ghosts on the sea, the Phantoms can be encountered on land and they are tougher and more apt than the usual ghosts or skeletons you would have encountered. There is no specific scenario that results in your encounter with the Phantom. Instead, it’s purely RNG. You can find them on any island. How to Beat Phantoms in Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life & Season 3
Phantoms are not just a part of the A Pirate’s Life, but also the larger universe of Sea of Thieves. So, at one point or the other you are sure to come encounter them. Before the Phantom becomes visible, there are some tell-tail sighs such as whispering and ghostly sound. When you hear these sounds on an island, you are about to meet a Phantom. If you do, there are a few things to keep in mind. Let’s first talk about the Phantom attack.
- You can encounter a single Phantom or a group of them.
- They use sword for melee combat and firearm for ranged.
- Phantoms can teleport and use a combo of teleport and attack.
Just like the Hermit Ocean Crawler, the Phantom does not waste time when it sees you. It will come directly charging at you. For the most part, they are similar to any other enemy player you would have encountered but watch for the teleportation attack. The most deadly attack of the Phantom is when they pull their sword back. This is when they combine the teleportation and sword attack and lunge in your direction.
To beat Phantom in Sea of Thieves, rely on your sword and be persistent with it. In this case, offense is the best defense. Keep attacking and the Phantoms would be interrupted in their attack. Never stop your attacks and after a while the Phantom will be defeated. So, spamming the attack with the sword is key to beating the Phantom.
