There should be a fine balance between the positive and negative traits to not overpower your character with either of them. This will give you your best chance of surviving the Zombie Apocalypse.
Best Positive Traits
Wakeful – Equipping Wakefulness as one of your traits will reduce your required amount of sleep down to 30%, which will help you stay active and work longer hours to scavenge and find resources.
Dexterous – It increases the transfer speed of moving and storing supplies in the inventory by 50%
Keen Hearing – Since your character is has a vision cone, i.e., cannot see what’s coming behind them until it is too close, you will need to amplify your hearing to listen to creatures creeping up behind you. Keen Hearing gives your character an amplified perception radius, which gives you some seconds of warning before imminent doom lurks in.
Lucky – This greatly increases your chances of finding useful and rare items by 10%. It also lowers your chance to fail any item repair by 5%, making your equipment run longer.
Best Negative Traits
Weak Stomach – Even if you place a Weak Stomach on your character, the chances of you eating rotten food deliberately are slim, so if you get this you are getting free points.
Underweight – another trait you can keep for free points, as you just have to keep eating till you hit normal weight.
High Thirst – This increases your carry capacity since you will be needing it for the extra bottle of water, or just keep one bottle topped up and use the extra slot for something else.
Smoker – It reduced stress if your character is a smoker.
While it may seem beneficial to have no negative traits, some traits such as these will help you in the long run while surviving Project Zomboid. That’s all there is to know about the best traits to use in Project Zomboid. You can check out all our other guides to know more.
