A new expansion called Tunnels of Terror has been released for Turtle Rock Studios’s Back 4 Blood. The FPS video game was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment as a challenging run with elements of player-versus-environment and multiplayer where a player can join a team to fight their way through monsters. This guide will explain what the difference is between Overheal and Bolstered Health in Back 4 Blood.
What is the Difference between Overheal and Bolstered Health in Back 4 Blood?
The game has interesting healing mechanics, as the atmosphere greatly affects it. If your character is dealing with Trauma, they will have a different reaction to the elements around them. It is more complex to understand if you should use healing potions when you have Trauma, but we’ve got this down for you.

When you’re playing Campaign runs, it’s important to learn how exactly the healing system works in Back 4 Blood. While Overhaul occurs when you have a Well Rested card equipped and a healing item is used on your Cleaner without using up all of its resources, Bolstered Health occurs when you have either the Fit as a Fiddle card or Sharice, who gives everyone 25% Bolstered Health.
Thus, for Overheal, you will get additional health if you use a consumable to heal your character who is in Trauma. This is known as temporary health and will show up as a blue line on your health bar. Bolstered Health, on the other hand, shows up as a bluish-purple outline on the left side of your health bar and improves your Overheal. You can use your temporary health while you are fully healed, which will be expended from the Bolstered Health bar.
It is important to note that your characters need to have the cards mentioned equipped for the Overheal and Bolstered Health to take place. If you’re struggling with Trauma, check out our guide on How to Recover from Trauma in Back 4 Blood.
