Ubisoft has finally lifted the curtains on their next Assassin’s Creed title. The upcoming game will launch in Spring 2022. It originally started as a spin-off to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. However, the game was later transformed into a full-fledged Assassin’s Creed title.
In the game, players will get to play as Basim, a character we have seen in Valhalla. The storyline is set 10-15 years prior to the events of Valhalla between 860 and 870 AD.
More details on Assassin’s Creed Mirage
No information on Assassin’s Creed is official yet. Ubisoft has announced they will be revealing more information, early looks and trailers to the game on September 10 at the Ubisoft Forward event.
However, a bunch of intel on the upcoming title has surfaced on the internet. The game will set in Baghdad, during the Anarchy in Samrra. It will also mark the return of Assassin Creed to a stealth-based series. All RPG mechanics are being removed as the series returns to its roots.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes a lot of inspiration from the first ever Assassin’s Creed which was originally released in 2007. Players will get to explore several cities in this game, unlike many of the older stealth-based Assassin’s Creed games. The cities are expected to separated by stretches of deserts and rivers.
The game will start with the story of a young Basim when he is a thief in the streets of Baghdad. Through the course of the game’s story, he joins the Hidden Ones, the Assassins’ brotherhood, and becomes a full-fledged Assassin.
The upcoming game will have no dialogue choices. Players will also not get to choose between genders or customize their characters unlike an RPG-styled Assassin’s Creed game. The game will completely get rid of the levelling system introduced with Origins.
The gameplay, however, will be improved from previous AC games. It will be slightly more mature as compared to that in Valhalla. Ubisoft is also recording new animations for this upcoming game. Mirage is also bringing both Eagle Vision and the drone bird back to the game.
Overall, Assassin’s Creed Mirage seems like one of the most interesting games to be released 2023.
