Layers of Fears was first revealed at Summer Game Fest 2022, confirming that Bloober Team was returning to the franchise that gave them their big break back in 2016. While the teaser didn’t reveal much about the game, Layers of Fears is a horror chronicle that combines Layers of Fear: Inheritance, and Layers of Fear 2 into a rebuilt experience with increased material, a new plot, and a fresh engine.

Releasing Date: Layers of Fears
Layers of Fears currently has merely a release window, which means we don’t know when it will be accessible to players. It’s scheduled to be released in early 2023, so we’ll probably receive it in the first quarter of the year assuming production goes on track. We’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as the release date is announced.
Storyline: Layers of Fears
It begins with a few images of paintings (an essential motif in the Layers of the Fear franchise) before they are set on fire, and then cuts to a long dark hallway that the camera slowly wanders through.
Much of the imagery is extremely psychological, and the trailer’s narrator declares, “this is a movie about dread, agony, and anger, and the misery of my loneliness.” The trailer does not directly state that this is a recreation of prior games with new material, but fans of earlier games may recognise several scenes and locales.
Gameplay: Layers of Fears
We have yet to witness any actual gameplay, but based on past games, we know how it will play. It’s a first-person psychological horror game that will replicate the initial Layers of Fear games as well as the Inheritance DLC.
We don’t know how they plan to build on previous games with additional material, or how the new story direction will combine all of the tales into one, but the creators have switched from Unity to Unreal Engine 5. They can also handle ray tracing, HDR, and 4K resolutions with the new engine.
Platforms: Layers of Fears
The game will be released as a next-generation title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as a PC release for both Steam and Epic Games Store.
So this was all about the new Fear Layers. Stay tuned for further information on the game, which has yet to be launched.
