Gaming is an integral part of our society. Something that many people do without even thinking twice is to pick up a controller and get carried away with their favorite gaming characters in virtual land.
There are countless fans out there who wait all year long for the industry’s biggest event – Electronic Entertainment Expo (known as E3 among ‘gamers’) – a digital gathering that highlights the latest happenings in the gaming world.
In the gaming industry, June is a big month. Every June since 1995 has played host to E3, an event where companies in the industry sell their newest ideas to one another. For example, in 2011 more companies than ever before shared their vision for the future of gaming.
When is the Summer Game Fest 2022?
This year’s Summer Game Fest will kick off on the 9th of June at 2 pm PT / 11 am ET, which is 7 pm GMT on June 9th with a live show hosted by our colleague Ash Parrish who describes him as a consummate ‘video game hype-man while stating that the broadcast will be streamed on “basically every platform”. A press release says you can watch it either on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook.

Over the weekend, Keighley released a trailer for Thursday’s event, confirming that first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, survival horror experience The Callisto Protocol, downloadable expansion Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, and Batman-themed multiplayer adventure Gotham Knights will all be shown. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is also set to appear.
Expected Games in the Summer Fest 2022
Following are the expected games in The Summer Fest 2022:
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
The official entry for A Plague Tale: Requiem on the Xbox digital marketplace indicates that the highly anticipated sequel will be released in June 2022. The official entry for A Plague Tale: Requiem on the Xbox shop appears to confirm the sequel’s previously unknown June 2022 release date. During E3 2021, developer Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Entertainment teased the Plague Tale sequel, previewing the next chapter in Amicia and Hugo’s quest.
- Alan Wake 2
After teasing the return of horror author Alan Wake in Control, creators Remedy finally revealed a complete sequel at The Game Awards today. Alan Wake 2 will be released in 2023, and Remedy has stated that it would be a survival horror game rather than an action game.
- Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert, a planned open-world RPG, received a new gameplay clip during the Game Awards 2020. Pearl Abyss, the company behind the huge MMO Black Desert, first unveiled Crimson Desert last year. We will soon see the new gameplay.
- Exoprimal
Exoprimal was a surprise reveal from Capcom at the March 2022 State of Play event. Exoprimal, as it was dubbed, appeared to be the long-awaited rebirth of the Resident Evil offshoot series, which substituted zombies with dinosaurs for a fresh take on survival horror.
- God of War: Ragnarok
Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure game that will be distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). It is set to be launched in 2022 on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) systems (PS5). It will be the ninth chapter in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to God of War, which was released in 2018.
- Diablo 4
Diablo IV is the upcoming fourth installment in 2023 in the Diablo series and the fourth dungeon crawler action role-playing game developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment. The game was unveiled at BlizzCon 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 1, 2019.
- Genshin Impact 2.8
On JULY 13, 2022, Genshin Impact 2.8 will be released. With that, HoYoverse has returned to its usual six-week update cycle. Maintenance is expected to run around five hours, from 6 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. Eastern. Maintenance compensation will be 300 Primogems.
- Gotham Knights
Gotham Knights will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on October 25. The 13-minute Gotham Knights gameplay clip includes fresh footage of Red Hood and Nightwing in co-op and single-player combat, giving an in-depth look at their skills and fighting styles. It shows how both heroes explore Gotham City on their own, as well as a fun chase action on the Bat Cycle.
- Mafia
The fourth mainstream chapter in 2K Games’ Mafia series is rumoured to be in the planning stages. The first Mafia game was launched in 2002, and it was followed by a sequel in 2010 and the third iteration in 2016. Since then, 2K has returned to rebuild the initial entry with Mafia: Definitive Edition in 2020. While the franchise’s future hasn’t been explored since then, it appears like 2K is planning a new entry that will take place before the original title.
- Layers of Fear
Layers of Fear is a psychological horror video game published by Aspyr and created by Bloober Team. In February 2016, it was published globally on Linux, Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In Layers of Fear, the player takes control of a psychologically unstable painter as he navigates a Victorian estate, learning mysteries about his history. It will release a new gameplay trailer before the end of 2022.
