You will get the quest to find the Sword of Morne quite early in the game, where NPC Edgar will tell you where to find it and to help him in retrieving it since it’s too dangerous for him to go on his own. After you accept the quest, head over to Castle Morne at the southmost tip of Weeping Peninsula. You can find the Weeping Peninsula if you travel southeast from Limgrave.
Castle Morne might be a bit too much to handle if you are visiting the location early in the game. Since this is an optional quest, you can always come back to it at a later point. The sword is inside this castle, but to get it you will have to defeat Leonine Misbegotten, the boss in Castle Morne. You can find it roaming a bit outside the castle walls. You can also find a Site of Grace that you can activate, on the south side of the castle, next to the yellowed boss door. This is an optional boss fight, so you can skip it if it is too hard, but you won’t be able to get to the sword. Defeating Leonine Misbegotten is fairly easy if you come prepared, and it can be easily taken down with ranged weapons or spells. For melee players, there are plenty of openings available once you learn its moves, so you got a lot of chances to attack it.
Once you have defeated Leonine Misbegotten, you will get the Grafted Blade Greatsword as a dropped reward, which is also the same sword that you were looking for. It is also one of the most powerful swords in Elden Ring, but you need 40 Strength to wield it. Retrieve the sword and head back to the Edgar to complete the quest.
